Smart Clap

Find your lost phone by clapping, snapping your fingers or whistling.

The phone answers with a sound, a blinking flashlight and vibration until you reach it. Recognition runs on the device with a neural network, so no audio is ever recorded, stored or transmitted. There is also an anti-theft alarm that goes off when the phone is picked up.

How we build

Four rules we hold ourselves to

On the device wherever it is possible. If the work can be done on your phone, it is done on your phone. Smart Clap's sound recognition is the current example: the model runs inside the app, with no server in the loop.
No account to use a utility. A tool that finds your phone has no business asking who you are. There is nothing to sign up for and no profile to keep.
A permission is requested only when a feature needs it. Smart Clap asks for the microphone because it has to hear a clap — that is the whole reason, and the app works only while you have detection switched on.
Say plainly what the app does with data. In normal words, in a document you can actually finish reading.
